and a spicy radish!

Yesterday we were out at Nyland’s watering our plot and minding our own business when an ear deafening screech right ahead of us made us jump and drop the hose. A stray water jet has made somebody hiding out in the tall grass adjacent to our plot a very unhappy camper.

It is time for our bi-weekly aisle tilling at the backyard plot.
With the produce starting to grow to a point where some can be harvested the aisles are being trampled on a bit more and the tilling becomes more important.

Our kids love to feed the pet goats at the Nyland cohousing community. They even pick the fresh, juice, thick, green grass that is growing around our plot.

It was time to till a row in our Nyland plot so that we could transplant some Kabocha squash, okra and broccoli seedlings along with some greens and corn.

I thought it would be interesting to measure the Active Fallow impact on the soil and went ahead with the purchase of a simple soil test kit at Home Depot.

Okay, most of our seed potatoes have arrived and it was time to put them into the ground.
We headed over to our Nyland plot, tilled the “potato lanes” and planted our potatoes (Yukon Gold) and Jerusalem artichokes with corn, bok choi, nappa and greens… and ran out of tilled soil…
